Dr. Naomi Mitchell
I come to Faith on the Journey with my Doctorate of Ministry, Homiletics, and 13 years of Pastoral, Family, and Marriage counseling. I have experience in individual, group, couples, and family therapy for all ages and cultural demographics. I've walked alongside individuals dealing with various disorders and issues including anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, behavioral issues, and personality disorders. Passionate and determined to serve the community by bringing social justice and helping others.
My Story
REVEREND DOCTOR NAOMI MITCHELL is a licensed minister with a heart for wholeness, wellness, and well-being. In addition to a broad range of counseling expertise, she has extensive experience in the areas of preaching, pastoral care, bereavement, marriage, eating disorders, self-esteem, social adjustment, job loss, depression, and anxiety. Naomi is a member of Morgan Park Baptist Church of Chicago, Illinois where she serves as co-pastor alongside her husband, The Rev. Dr. Joel R. Mitchell.
Dr. Naomi earned a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Southern Illinois University, as well as a Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary. In 2015 she completed a certificate in self-psychology as a Pastoral Psychotherapist from the Chicago Center of Religion and Psychotherapy. Dr. Naomi also earned a Doctor of Ministry in Homiletics from the Association of Chicago Theological Schools in 2021. She is a Prepare and Enrich Counselor and an Approved Gottman Institute Couple’s Check-up Advisor.
Dr. Naomi is the co-founder of The Marriage Investors and has served as CEO for five years. In her role as CEO, she has cultivated relationships with pastors and denominational leaders both in Chicago and throughout the United States as well as globally. She is a recognized speaker, preacher, and leader in marriage and family ministry and consistently speaks to congregations, women’s ministry conferences, women’s events, and with her husband, facilitates marriage and family conferences and retreats. She and her husband, Rev. Dr. Joel Mitchell, developed and provides counseling resources for countless couples and she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Marriage Investors pastoral care center as well as conducts the program’s assessments. Dr. Mitchell is an avid social justice advocate for the voiceless, the marginalized and the oppressed.
